Job Summary

We are seeking an Assistant Community Manager to join the team at one of our smaller multifamily communities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on and involved in multiple areas of property operations, including leasing, resident relations, rent collection, administrative support, and day-to-day community operations.

The Assistant Community Manager plays a key role in supporting property performance, including occupancy and revenue goals, while ensuring compliance with company policies, Fair Housing guidelines, and applicable regulations. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, accountability, and a commitment to delivering a high-quality resident experience.

Essential Functions: (Include but are not limited to)

  • Support rent collection efforts, process resident payments as applicable, monitor delinquency, and assist with notices and eviction processes in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations.
  • Support leasing activities, including prospect follow-up, property tours, applications, lease documentation, renewals, and efforts to meet or exceed occupancy goals.
  • Maintain accurate resident records, files, and documentation while supporting compliance with company policies, Fair Housing requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Provide responsive and professional service to residents and prospects, addressing questions and concerns and assisting with resolution as appropriate.
  • Promote resident engagement through community programs and initiatives designed to enhance satisfaction and retention.
  • Coordinate and support the make-ready process by working with maintenance teams and vendors to help ensure apartments are prepared for timely occupancy.
  • Assist with property reporting, basic financial processes, budgeting support, and other administrative and operational responsibilities.
  • Conduct property tours and unit and common-area inspections, perform resident outreach, and deliver or post notices throughout the community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on community and operational needs.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of property management experience required, including recent onsite experience within multifamily apartment communities in Arizona. Experience should include leasing, resident relations, rent collection, and other areas of property operations. Candidates must currently reside in Arizona.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport and conduct tours confidently.
  • Working knowledge of property reporting, basic financial processes, and rent-related responsibilities.
  • Proficient with computers and property management software (Yardi preferred).
  • Strong sense of ownership with a proactive, hands-on, and team-focused approach to supporting community needs.
  • Able to resolve resident and team member concerns with professionalism, tact, and empathy.
  • Ability to perform duties throughout the community, including conducting property tours, delivering and posting notices, inspecting common areas, and interacting with residents in various locations across the property.
  • Knowledge of Fair Housing laws and applicable landlord-tenant regulations preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred to support effective communication with residents and team members.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently walk throughout the apartment community, including leasing offices, apartment units, amenities, parking areas, and grounds.
  • Climb stairs and navigate multi-story buildings as part of daily responsibilities.
  • Regularly sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds (e.g., files, packages, signage, and supplies).
  • Operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and scanners.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors, with occasional exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Perform property tours, unit and common-area inspections, resident outreach, and delivery or posting of notices throughout the community.
